I am trying to get back into doing proper coloured works after a little while, but I lost steam towards the end of this one... Oh well. I was inspired by one of my favourite observations about Alphonse Mucha by his son, who watched him work. He said that his father had a 'natural sense of balance' which he employed when drawing his beautiful decorative posters- simply starting from one point (the figure, I imagine) and then expanding on it with his signature flowing forms, panels and arabesques. Uh... it's not really obvious why it's inspired by that here, only that I wanted to draw a character creating a nouveau piece, as opposed to just drawing an Art Nouveau style piece in itself. Uh... I talked to much haha. Hope you like it despite its unfinished-ness.
I just got to visit a bunch of Mucha exhibits in Prague and I'm more inspired now by him than I was before. Check out his Slav Epic for his unbelievable sense of color and emphasis too. It's unreal in person.
